Manchester Anime and Gaming Con 2016

Anime League after running London Anime and Gaming Con, Alcon and meets around the UK have branched out and hosted their first Manchester Anime and Gaming Con at Sugdon Sports Center and the Zoo Bar in the heart of Manchester.

They had the Video Game section set upstairs of the venue and two large basketball courts, one for vendors and food stalls and the second divided between Laser tag, board games and the stage. A second live stage was set up at the Zoo Bar across the road which was for private use of the MAGC attendees to watch stage activities or settle down for a relaxing drink and after party fun.

It was fantastic to see the amount of on the door attendees who were just passing by and wanted to get involved in the activities. Performers included: Kelsey Ellison, Ellie Monty, Demon Tomato Dave and more. I even ended up being pulled on stage to sing along with the Fuka Chan to sing the Miraculous Ladybug song.

Lasertag was a hit where people got to have games of 30m minutes sessions in cosplay which was a great addition to the activities. Pokemon Gym challenge returned after popular demand from Alcon and I saw past winners this time acting as Gym bosses.

Food stalls included freshly made gelato, bento boxes, yakisoba, curry buns, american sweet which tickled peoples taste buds.

My favourite moment was meeting one of my favourite kawaii brands in person. Tia the talent behind Sakura Sparkles was selling her fresh off the printers unicorn and Cosmic shiba t shirts, art prints and laser print jewelry.

We also had the Cosplay masquerade which would send three winners each day to the finals to be sent abroad to compete! For the For more photos click here. Definately a family friendly event for fans of anime or for people wanting a place to socialise and buy Japanese related items.
